Queen Elizabeth School Communication Guidelines

Communication is very important to us at Queen Elizabeth School.  We know a positive partnership with a student’s family will make a great difference in your child’s education. We have established a communication guideline for our QES School Community. The purpose of the guideline is to serve as a general standard for ensuring effective communication from parents to teachers, staff, and administrators. Each week we will send out a talk mail and email with important information and events. Additionally, we post a monthly newsletter on our school website. Please check the website frequently for any important updates.

When communicating with any member of our staff please follow the QES Communication Guideline:

  • The Homeroom Teacher or Subject Teacher should be your first contact.
  • Due to confidentiality and code of ethics, please be mindful that teachers are unable to discuss other students or colleagues within our school community.
  • We kindly ask that all communication with our staff remains respectful and professional. If a conversation or email exchange becomes inappropriate, it may be necessary to conclude the interaction until it can be resumed constructively.
  • Be prepared to work collaboratively to solve problems.
  • School staff will make every effort to respond as soon as possible to parent communications, with the understanding that the teaching day precludes immediate responses. The expectation is that staff will respond within 24 business hours. Teachers and staff may need some time to collect needed information before responding.
  • Please remember that your child’s teacher & other school staff are professionals, and their time, like yours, is valuable.
  • Should you wish to meet face to face with any member of staff, please plan to set up an appointment. Please do not come to the school to meet with a staff member without a set appointment
  • For the security of our students, staff and QES Community, the doors will always be locked. Please do not enter the school without the consent of the Admin Assistants. Once you have rung the bell located at the main entrance, please proceed directly to the office to sign in.
  • Please communicate to your child that school is important and model appropriate communication, digital citizenship and social skills, a parent is a child’s first teacher. Your role is extremely important.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.
