Beginning on October 16th, our new Expanding Potential program is for youth ages 12-16 to grow not only in their skills, but also socialize with their peers in a safe environment. Each week, a different topic will be the focus of growing skills for participants. The topics for each week include:
Week 1 – Welcome Night Social
Week 2 – Academics
Week 3 – Conflict Resolution & Communication
Week 4 – Social Skills & Relationship Building
Week 5 – Time Management
Week 6 – Workforce Preparation
Week 7 – Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking
Week 8 – Health & Wellness
Week 9 – Fun Farewell
In addition to these specific topics each week, there will also be time included each session to allow participants to receive academic support in subjects they may be struggling with from staff of the program, in addition to being able to simply socialize with their peers through group activities & games at the YMCA. More information, as well as the link to register, can be found following this link: Activity detail | ACTIVE Net – YMCA of Greater Moncton. This is something brand new that our department is trying, with the goal of providing not only youth some additional support, but also being able to assist teachers by helping to reach those youth who are at risk of falling behind.
